Upcycle an Old Shoe into a Phone Holder

Let’s go back to 2009 when the hubby mentions this fabulous resale shop in The Woodlands, TX where we lived at the time. Being that I am a huge fan of thrifting, of course, I had to check it out. While there I find the most fantastic pair of snake print Guess stilettos in perfect never been worn condition. OMG, they were in my size, and they were only $13. I was beyond ecstatic at this point, only to take them home and leave them on the floor in my closet…

Well, we had just brought home our Old English bully Belvedere who hadn’t yet received any training. Belvedere decided to take my “new” Guess stiletto and use the heel as a chew toy. Ugh, I fucken cried. Legit tears were rolling down my face when I discovered him in the act.

Here is the last picture I have with Belvedere. He is no longer with us.

Fast forward 10 years, I still have the right shoe it sat on my desk year after year without purpose. Believe me when I tell you I have searched high and low for another pair in my size on Poshmark, eBay and even craigslist – don’t laugh! I have come to terms that this was a lost sole.

Then one late night i’m casually scrolling through Instagram and I come across this image that gave me inspiration. The lonely shoe I had held onto for all these years finally had purpose. Until I misplaced the shoe…

Fast forward to 2022, I finally found the missing shoe and I am able to finish this lovely project 🤦🏾‍♀️

But here is the final project: A phone holder purse

Claes Iversen Inspired My Suit Upcycle

I was in need of texture and volume for a photoshoot I was asked to style. I was scrolling through Pinterest when I came across some images from a 2018 couture show with designs by Claes Iversen and I was immediately intrigued by these pieces. I had found the inspiration that I needed to help me create.

I immediately started to look through the clothing I had in the fashion closet. Keeping an eye for pieces that I could upcycle into a special piece inspired by this couture show. I remembered that I had a Juicy Couture suit that was the size I needed and it fit the moodboard. I then found an older white dress which had some tulle at the bottom of it. I removed the tulle and attached it to the suit.

Shoe upcycle with rubberstamps.com

I am extremely excited to show you the collaboration that I have been working on with RubberStamps.com.

I had a couple of pairs of shoes that could use a second life. So, I knew it was time for an upcycle. It’s also been a long time since my last upcycle. So I took the rubber stamp, some ink and went to town.

Use code SBSENTME at http://www.rubberstamps.com for a special discount 💌

I stamped the entire boot and then moved onto the shoes. I created my very own unique print. I am so happy how they turned out. How do you think I did?

Disclaimer: I tried several inks but I did have to wait 24hrs for ink to dry and then I sprayed a clear coat over then.

Ad: I did receive the stamp at no cost for my post.
